The Alliance Française Library: A true resource for francophiles!
Reading a book or watching a movie in French is a wonderful complement to the classroom language instruction. The Alliance Française Médiathèque has the largest lending-to-all collections of French books, periodicals, DVDs and CDs in the Washington, DC area. These are selected to reflect the Francophone culture of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
The library serves all -- students and non-students, native speakers and learners, children, teenagers, and adults. In 2010, more than 13,000 library items were checked out.
The Library Fund enables us to respond to an increasing demand by:
- Developing and expanding our collections of books, comic strips, DVDs, CDs and periodicals
- Purchasing technical equipment for self instruction and on-site use of audio-visual documents
In 2011, many exciting projects are underway for your library, including an increase in the number of audio, visual and digital materials available to students of all levels, and library users of all ages, and a new library catalog system with an improved user interface. In addition, the library space will be redesigned to be more user and reader friendly. Your support really makes a difference.

To make a restricted or unrestricted donation of another amount please download the PDF contribution form. You can either fill it out electronically and send it as an attachement to development@francedc.org or, you can print it out and mail it to Alliance Française de Washington, 2142 Wyoming Avenue, NW- Washington, DC 20008. Please note that the amount of your contribution is deductible as a charitable contribution for federal income tax purposes. Please consult your tax adviser.

Your company may be able to match your gift! Many organizations have adopted the “Employee Matching Gift” program and match donations made by their employees. So please, do not miss the opportunity to double or triple the impact of your generosity and inquire with your human resources department or benefits office to find out if they are part of the program. If so, please request a matching gift form from your employer and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will take care of the rest!
