Key element of the new Parisian scene, Hubert Dupont has collaborated with Glenn Ferris, Stephano Di Battista, Robin Eubanks, Steve Lacy and many others. His solo album Ultraboles was named “revelation of 2005” in the magazine Guitarist-Bass. His new CD “Dupont T: Spider’s Dance” as well as the DC concert feature the outstanding Indo-New Yorker Rudresh Mahanthappa on saxophone, named a « Rising Star of the Alto Saxophone» by the Downbeat International Critics Poll for the past four years as well as Yvan Robilliard (piano) winner of the jazz award at La Défense Festival in 2005 as both a soloist and composer and Chander Sardjoe (drums), master of poly-rythm.
Influenced by both Indian music as can be heard in its use of the saxophone and by African rythms, this quartet delivers enigmatic improvisations. Listening to Spider’s Dance, one can easily imagine a spiders’ ballet’s complex choreography.
A unique occasion to listen to the new French jazz sound in DC!
