What is de Beauvoir’s philosophy about? How did it influence her life and her writing? Why does her thinking remain so profoundly relevant today?
Born in London and educated in Europe and Australia, Hazel Rowley had the opportunity to interview Simone de Beauvoir in 1976. “Tête-à-Tête: Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre” (Harper Collins, 2005), a Washington Post “Best Book,” has been translated into thirteen languages. The L.A. Times calls it “compulsively readable,... the surprise page turner of the season.” In France, Lire magazine named it the best “literary essay” of 2006.
Free. Please RSVP by sending your name, surname and the number of people in your party to culturel.washington-amba@diplomatie.gouv.fr only. The Embassy’s limited garage is available on a first-come, first served basis.
Organized by l’Alliance Française de Washington and La Maison Française through the generous support of the French-American Cultural Foundation, in collaboration with the Délégation Générale de l’Alliance Française, USA.
