The Alliance Française Outreach Program
A program sponsored by the Alliance Française de Washington in partnership with the District of Columbia Public School System (DCPS.)
The Alliance Française Educational Initiative is an expression of the Alliance Française de Washington's long-term commitment to the local community. Established in 2002 in honor of Anne Bujon, wife of former French Ambassador François Bujon de l’Estang, this initiative offers a tangible connection with the French language, culture, and way of life to third, fourth, and fifth graders in two high-need public elementary schools in the District of Columbia (Garfield and Orr Elementary Schools).
Each week the Alliance Française-sponsored program sends native French-speaking teachers into these schools to offer a lively mix of rigorous language training and cultural enrichment. Visits from international figures in the sciences and arts, cultural events, and outings to French restaurants supplement the classroom experience and open doors to a wider world.
Today, the Alliance Française Educational Initiative is in more classrooms, reaching more students, and offering a stronger curriculum than ever before. Your donation will help us continue to provide participating schools and their students with high-quality language instruction and cultural enrichment which they may not experience without this program.
Your generosity really makes a difference!
$50: Will allow one student to attend the annual end of the year event, gathering all the students from the schools part of the AFEI program to a great cultural event (this year at the Adventure Theatre);
$100: One week of instruction by an expert in teaching French as Foreign Language to children;
$250: Allows us to bring a francophone artist for a cultural workshop into one school;
$500: Help us fund one outing to a French restaurant for one class;
$1,000: Provide a professional workshop by an expert to the AFEI faculty;
$5,000 and above: Will help us extend the program to more underprivileged elementary schools in Northeast and Southeast DC.

You can either fill it out electronically and send it as an attachement to development@francedc.org or, you can print it out and mail it to Alliance Française de Washington, 2142 Wyoming Avenue, NW- Washington, DC 20008.
Please note that the amount of your contribution is deductible as a charitable contribution for federal income tax purposes.
Your company may be able to match your gift! Many organizations have adopted the “Employee Matching Gift” program and match donations made by their employees.
