A special chance for children to meet Belgian author Catherine Pineur, the creator of a beloved collection of children's stories known for their vibrant sense of life and color. This personal story time will be followed by a special art workshop for children with their parents. Children will be introduced to a unique style of painting that uses egg tempera paint.
Egg tempera is an historic type of paint that dates back as far as the Renaissance, where it was used in such works as Botticelli's "Birth of Venus." Egg tempera paint is made by mixing the egg yolk with water and color pigments. This mixture means a few things: the paint dries nearly immediately, it dries with a unique luminescent sheen, but it also cannot be saved and must be mixed each time an artist sits down to paint.
Bring your budding artists for a chance to learn to mix their own paints and create their own piece of art, from start to finish!
*Space is limited. Please purchase your tickets in advace!
Where: Alliance Française - Dupont // 2142 Wyoming Ave, NW
