Following official information received yesterday pertaining to the Plan Vigipirate, applicable to all governmental and non-governmental institutions with a link to France, the  Alliance Francaise of Washington DC reserves the right to ask first-time visitors for their government-issue ID when they enter the building.

Click-&-Collect is back!

Good news! Starting March 30, you will once again be able to use the AFDC Library’s curbside service.

It’s time to get back into your reading lists – books, films, magazines, for young and old readers alike, our shelves are sure to have something for all readers and all preferences!

The librarians will be at the Alliance Française every Wednesday from 9am to 5 pm to arrange your reservation pick up.

How does it work?

  1. Connect to your AFDC Library account through our online catalog. 
  2. Reserve your desired items by clicking on the green "Reserve" button next to eligible titles. 
  3. Once you have submitted your reservations, you will then need to send an e-mail to library@francedc.org to arrange your appointment.
  4. On the day of your pick-up appointment, you will receive an e-mail from the library confirming your reservation and the contactless pick-up. 
  5. You may also submit your reservations and desired timeslot by e-mail to library@francedc.org.

Contactless Pick-up & COVID-19 Policies

In order to ensure the proper functioning of this service, as well as the health and safety of all, please respect the following policies during your visit: 

  1. You are required to wear a mask when you come to pick up your reserved materials. 
  2. Entry into the building is not permitted. When you come to pick up your reservations, you will need to wait outside and call the library. 
  3. If you exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, etc.), DO NOT COME. Call your health care provider immediately. 
  4. If you have to cancel your appointment, please notify the library 48 hours in advance.
  5. If you would like to return old materials, please notify the library when you reserve your timeslot. Any materials to be returned must be placed in a bag or returned via the drop box. 

Borrowing Policies

A valid and current Alliance Française DC membership is required in order to check out library materials. Borrowing quotas may be found here. During this time, items will be checked out to you for 60 days. After 60 days, items must be renewed or returned.
