Dear candidates,

Thank you very much for your interest in taking the exam or a certification at Alliance Française of Washington DC. Regretfully, because of the current sanitary crisis, the AF of Washington DC must cancel all scheduled exams and certifications (except Test d’accès DAEFLE) until further notice. To help you locate another Exam Center in the USA and which exam is administrated, please click on the following link.

The Alliance Française is the only center in Washington that offers the TEF (Test d’Evaluation de Français) and its variants, the TEFAQ (Test d’évaluation de français adapté au Québec), the TEF Canada, and TEF ANF (pour accès à la nationalité française). The TEF is a widely recognized exam offered by the Paris Chamber of Commerce (CCIP) and serves as legitimate proof of fluency. The AFDC gives the electronic versions of these exams.

The TEF includes one required section and two options:

Multiple Choice (required)

Optional Sections

Candidates may add either speaking, writing, or both as needed.

Starting on February 1st 2020, the TEF pour accès à la nationalité française consists of four (4) required sections:

TEFAQ and TEF Canada

The TEFAQ and TEF Canada consist of four sections:

TEFAQ candidates may register for the full exam, for oral sections only, or for a single section.
TEF Canada candidates must take all four sections.

There will be no TEF sessions in July and August.

Please note that a minimum is 30 days must be respected between each TEF exam if you wish to retake it.  Otherwise, your registration will be cancelled by the CCIP.

Exam fees are not refundable after the registration deadline. In case of withdrawal before the registration deadline, a $25 fee will be applied.

Please note that the AFDC reserves the right to close registrations early if we reach maximum capacity before the deadline. You may email certifications@francedc.org to be placed on a waiting list in this case. Similarly, a testing session may be cancelled if there are fewer than 3 participants. If this happens, we can move your registration to the next session. No refunds or credits will be issued if a registered candidate misses an exam session.
