COVID-19 measures

The Alliance Francaise of Washington DC is monitoring the developping outbreak of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). We would like to share with you the following recommendations from the the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

Voluntary Home Isolation: Stay home when you are sick with respiratory disease symptoms. At the present time, these symptoms are most likely due to influenza or other respiratory viruses than to COVID-19-related viruses.

Respiratory Etiquette: Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throw it in the trash can.

Hand Hygiene: Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially: after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. Soap and water re both available in our bathrooms.

If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with 60% - 95% alcohol. Hand sanitizers are available in all classrooms, bathrooms, and offices at AFDC.

Environmental Health Action: AFDC will ensure routine cleaning of frequently touches surfaces and objects in our classrooms and within our facilities in general.

For further information, please visit the website of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention:

Please also monitor the CDC site to stay current about which countries are experiencing widespreag, ongoing transmission (as of March 7, 2020, these countries include mainland China, Iran, South Korea, and Italy). The CDC notes that you will be asked to stay home for a period of 14 days from the time you left an area with widespread and ongoing community spread. Please keep this and all relevant recommendations of the CDC in mind before visiting the AFDC.

In the unlikely event that you or a person close to you contracts COVID-19, please contact us immediately, so that we may take appropriate actions.
