Following official information received yesterday pertaining to the Plan Vigipirate, applicable to all governmental and non-governmental institutions with a link to France, the  Alliance Francaise of Washington DC reserves the right to ask first-time visitors for their government-issue ID when they enter the building.

We thank you for your cooperation and understanding. This procedure is temporary but will remain in place until further notice.

The linguistic requirements for immigration to Québec include a proof of French language level in the competencies of Listening, Speaking, Reading and/or Writing.

To be evaluated only for Listening and Speaking skills, you may register for either the TEFAQ or the TCF-Québec.

To be evaluated for all skills, you may register for the TEFAQ full exam or the TCF-Q with reading and writing. You may also take the DELF B2, or DALF C1/C2.

If you have already obtained scores, but would like to retake a single section, this is possible for either the TEFAQ or the TCF-Q.

All of these exams are acceptable to prove your language level for Québec immigration.

Please see our TEF for upcoming test dates and registration. If you have questions, please contact Certifications Coordinator at 202-234-7911 or certifications@francedc.org.

RESULTS: Please note that you may submit a PHOTOCOPY of your results with your immigration dossier. DO NOT submit your original attestation de résultats, as there will be no opportunity to obtain another official copy.

Principle candidates are required to achieve a B2 level or higher, based on the CECR scale, in order to receive points for the exam. (See chart below)

Canadian Immigration

Official website here

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) accepts two exams: TEF Canada and TCF Canada. There are four sections considered in your profile: Listening comprehension, written comprehension, speaking expression and written expression. The points system depends on the immigration program you are using. Please check the official website for the points distribution for the TEF or TCF.

For immigration to Canada, you must take the full exam and present all the results on one certificate. Note that the TEF Canada is accepted by Québec immigration as well.

Please see our TEF page for upcoming test dates. If you have questions, please contact Certifications Coordinator at 202-234-7911 or certifications@francedc.org.

Please note that the above is for general information only. This is not legal council, and candidates should consult their lawyer or the immigration offices in question to fully understand the requirements.
